Shown below are some samples of various assignments done at NID that helped me learn some of the visual design principles. These assignments helped me understand the mechanics of creating a visual that clearly communicates the idea, to create meaning through color, shapes and composition.
1, 2, 4 : Compositions on Rythm; 3: on Contrast; 5, 6: Typography with reed pen; 7: Typography composition
1: Color and typography; 2: Color and space
1, 2: Color and meaning; 3: Color wheel, Tints, Shades and Grey scale.
Seeing with hands: This assignment was to help us get more sensitive to the shapes and textures of objects. We felt the plastic toy frog in a bag without seeing it and then created clay models of it based on what we perceived the frog to be my touch.
Animation: to teach substraction
This is an animation that tells the story of 3 kids planning for a summer picnic. It teaches them the concepts of borrowing and subtracting. This is a group project and my role was to create script, story boarding, testing the script with students and few background animations. For more details please see the process document.
This is a group project. In this project we've done multiple field studies to understand various systems and their interdependencies of a village. Then we came up with a visualization to represent all the systems. The metaphor we chose for the visualization was a buffalo which is one of the central element of their economy.
These are my coding deliverables for web technologies course INFO343 at UW.
In these samples shown above:
Left: Animated Bow Down to Washington, with relevant images using JS( please open in firefox).
Middle: Used JavaScript to change color of coffee blend selected through a slider.
Right: Used JavaScript to Pop up and magnify images from a thumbnail gallery.

Most of these works are done individually. Those projects done as group work will be specified in project description.
