Project details
In this project we designed a touch-screen based kiosk. It helps users of Indian railways to smartly plan trips.
We did observational field studies to study what kind of information systems are available in the railway stations and at reservation counter.
But for the ticket seller and the huge boards that list trains between important stations there is no direct way of knowing trains that are available. We looked at the Indian railway website that shows similar information to users who are savy with using online resources. Majority of users at the reservation counter do not have information ahead taking plenty of time to find train route information. This often increased the waiting time in the queue for everyone.
To address this problem we designed a touch screen kiosk to enable users to find relevant information required to book their tickets. Below is the screen flow (reload page to see from home screen) :

4. To input numbers
5. For popular routes you get many direct trains
6. Option to fill in break station
7. Shows relevant break station options
8. Shows route information for Source to Break and Break to Destination station
